The datasets are produced by different models and their variants. Below you find a description of the different CHELSA models together with some background information.

  • CHELSA V2.1

    CHELSA v2.1 is a mechanistic, terrain-informed climate downscaling model that produces high-resolution gridded temperature, precipitation, and additional climate variables.

  • CHELSAch-highres

    CHELSAch-highres is a variant of the CHELSA v2.1 model adapted for applications at very high spatial resolution at the regional scale.

  • CHELSA-TraCE21k

    CHELSA-TraCE21k is a mechanistic, terrain-informed climate downscaling model adapted for paleoclimatic applications.

  • CHELSACanaryClim

    CHELSACanaryClim is a high-resolution, terrain-informed downscaling model developed specifically for the Canary Islands.

  • CHELSA V2.0

    CHELSA v2.0 is a mechanistic, terrain-informed climate downscaling model that produces high-resolution gridded temperature, precipitation, and solar radiation.
